If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That appears to be the approach of Congress after failing in 2011 to have the “Worker Protection against Combustible Dust Explosions and Fires Act of 2011″ make it to a vote by both houses. The “Worker Protection Against Combustible Dust Explosions and Fires Act of 2013” (H.R. 691) was re-introduced Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the House of Representatives. The bill would streamline OSHA’s process for issuing an interim standard and direct OSHA to issue an interim final combustible dust standard within a year and direct OSHA to issue a final standard within 18 months.
