Did you know that Kentucky has more miles of running water than any other state in the U.S. except for Alaska? During my time with Smith Management Group I have learned a lot about some of the water quality issues Kentucky faces, especially with waste management. When I graduated college I thought that I was well informed of water quality issues, after this summer I realize that I was slightly naïve! There are so many aspects of water health that go beyond the field work and sampling, politics play an influential role in remediation processes and installing basic necessities like sewer systems. These realizations have motivated me to better educate myself on some of these issues, and I would someday like to help educate the public and implement a sense of individual responsibility for the way we dispose of our waste.
