Smith Management Group is actively involved in the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED).  One area of SMG’s involvement is with the group’s Public Policy Committee, which brings attention various bills of importance to economic development in the Commonwealth.  In addition to the environmental and energy related bills that SMG tracks in the weekly Legislative Updates, SMG follows bills that will affect the business climate in Kentucky.

This week, KAED hosted special guests on their weekly call.  Representative Jim DeCesare from Warren County and Representative Adam Koenig, spoke about HB 308, which is the Right to Work bill.  Although the bill will not pass this session, both representatives feel strongly about the issue and are willing to champion the bill in the 2014 Legislative Session.  Other bills that the representatives discussed and supported were HB 311 and HB 312 (prevailing wage bills) and HB 309 (project labor agreements).
