The EPA is bracing for a 8.2% cut in the agency’s spending for 2013. It is estimated that the overall budget for EPA is expected be cut by $719 Million below FY 2012. Possible cuts include furloughs, limited spending on travel and training, cuts to contractor budgets, and possible cuts to state grants. Furloughs will look much like Kentucky State Employee furlough’s with employees having to take 4 days of unpaid leave before June 1 and maybe additional days after June 1.  Some will be adjoining federal holidays. EPA will have to work through the budget cuts, but the regulated community will probably not see a significant change in services.  EPA Clean Water Grants will likely be cut hard as well as Brownfield and Superfund funding.
