Twelve states, including Kentucky, are working on strategies to reduce nutrients in waterways. According to a recent EPA news release, the states are devising new strategies to reduce nutrients. Kentucky’s planned strategy can be found here. The states have revised goals of reducing nutrients loads 20% by 2025 and shrinking the hypoxia zone in the Gulf by about 4,000 square miles by 2035.
