This month Sarah Carty, one of SMG’s EHS Specialists, joined the global and Louisville Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). ASSE is the oldest professional safety society and represents thousands of safety and health practitioners around the globe. ASSE was founded in 1911 as the United Society of Casualty Inspectors in New York City soon after the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.

Sarah says she joined ASSE because it is a great voice for the health and safety professional and provides advocacy, educational opportunities, and standards development for its members. ASSE is also a great opportunity to network with professionals in various specialties of the safety and health field. Sarah looks forward to attending the local Louisville Chapter meetings and luncheons and  believes ASSE will be a great tool in her professional development.
