SMG serves as a representative for several clients on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the Floyds Fork nutrient TMDL.  The fourth TAC meeting was held on February 20, 2013.  The issue that dominated the meeting was the nutrient targets for the watershed that have been developed by Kentucky Division of Water (KDOW).  Targets are basically numeric interpretations of the narrative standard that Kentucky has established.  According to Clark Dorman with KDOW, targets were developed for Floyds Fork around a year and a half ago and are based on what KDOW believes is required to protect biological integrity for the stream.

In addition to the targets discussion, Tim Wool with U.S. EPA, Region 4 and Brian Watson, with Tetra Tech presented an update on the model that is being used for TMDL development.  The next modeling report for the project should be published in the next couple of weeks and can be found on KDOW’s website.  KDOW’s website is also a good source of information for understanding how EPA and Tetra Tech are involved in the project.
