Patty Mason, civil engineer at SMG, in conjunction with the East Oldham Middle School PTSA and the seventh grade science teachers organized DiscoverE at EOMS last week.  The goal of DiscoverE is to to help K-12 students discover the exciting worlds of engineering and technology.   The event included two to three volunteer engineers visiting each seventh grade science class on February 21, 2013.  Engineers spoke with students, led demonstrations, and shared what they love about their jobs as engineers.  Volunteers from Dow Corning, The Dow Chemical Company, Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, Inc., The Louisville Water Company,  Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District, and the University of Louisville participated.  Students will participate in an in-class engineering design contest as part of the program.  This is the third year that Patty has coordinated the program at EOMS.
