From March to June is the time that communities, volunteer organizations, and government coordinate and participate in trash pickup programs. Last week marked the 17th annual Commonwealth Cleanup Week coordinated by the Energy and Environmental Cabinet. Upcoming community events through the Great American Cleanup include Keep Lexington-Fayette County Beautiful with events across Lexington in April, Keep Covington Beautiful with events from May through November, and Louisville’s Brightside. In addition, ORSANCO organizes an Annual River Sweep along the Ohio River. This year it is set for June 20, 2015 with the following Kentucky counties participating: Ballard, Boone, Boyd, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Daviess, Gallatin, Henderson, Jefferson, Kenton, Lewis, Livingston, Marshall, Mason, McCracken, Oldham and Union. The Kentucky River Clean Sweep with be June 20th too.
