TSCA Can You Keep Up?

The 113th Congress failed to enact legislation that would reform the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) which has not been updated since its enactment in 1976. It is predicted that states will continue these efforts to regulate or even ban chemical substances labeled as “risky”, “of concern” or “high priority.” Some state legislatures have already enacted similar laws.  These state laws vary from completely banning a chemical substance, to developing a list of “priority” chemicals and having manufacturers and/or importers file certain reports and disclosing the presence of this chemical to customers.

If you are a manufacturer and/or importer you face a challenge in trying to keep up with these state specific chemical requirements. Don’t fall victim to violating a state TSCA law that you are unaware of. For more information please contact sarahc@smithmanage.com .
